What is the Assessment & Resource Service?

The Assessment & Resource Service (ARS) is a non-profit society supported and administered by local employers, unions and employee groups. Within their respective worksites these organizations have established joint Employee & Family Assistance Programs (EFAP). EFAP's are employee benefit programs which provide employees (active, disabled and retired) and their dependent family members with immediate access to confidential assistance to help them resolve personal difficulties.
 
EFAP's permit worksites to demonstrate concern for employees and families in a progressive and constructive manner.
 
The ARS provides EFAP clients with confidential and professional assessment, short term counselling, referral and follow-up services with a registered psychologist. The ARS and its staff are independent of the organizations they serve. This autonomy and the community location of the office all help to ensure that the ARS fully meets the needs of the EFAP's it serves.
 
These complementing programs are designed to allow employees and families to seek help on their own. Participation in EFAP's and the ARS is completely voluntary.
